We are parents, caregivers, psychotherapists, teachers and friends of gender expansive children who wanted them to flourish in environments without the pressure of going “stealth” and of feeling “scared” of their secret being revealed. By feeling safe and by playing amongst their peers with experienced camp counselors, gender fluid children would see positive examples of gender creative identities reflected back to them in wholesome play. Rainbow Day Camp is a program of the enGender – a 501(c)3 non profit- and is run as a summer camp by an independent school in the Bay Area.
Mission Statement
The mission of the organization is to support gender diverse youth and their families by fostering self-determination through direct services and programming. We offer summer day camps, monthly play groups, bi monthly teen support groups with inMind and family support circles.
Vision Statement
The play-based camp will provide a safe space for the exploration of gender identity and expression, to build community for gender expansive youth and their families and to support these youth and their families with self-empowerment and resiliency curriculum.
To supplement the children’s day camp experience, psychotherapists who are gender specialists will be available after drop off and before pick up to answer questions and facilitate the parent support discussion group.
