Trans Youth Mentorship Program
(FAQ here)

About The Program:

We pair transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse mentees with similarly identified, experienced mentors in Oakland and surrounding areas. These mentorship pairings provide
mentees with a safe space to discuss issues of interest, to feel heard and affirmed by a supportive role model, and to receive assistance in processing their journey of self discovery and expression. The Trans Youth Mentorship Program is a collaboration between enGender and inMind. inMind is a group practice that specializes in gender affirming care for youth, families, and adults that celebrates gender and sexual diversity.

Interested in Becoming a Mentor?

Mentors receive training from the mentor coordinator and professional therapists. As a mentor, you will positively impact a trans or gender diverse youth’s life by providing empathy, guidance, role modeling, and resources. Mentors help mentees:

1) learn to feel more comfortable in their gender identity,
2) develop strategies for negotiating this identity and their relationships to others,
3) sort out various questions and concerns that arise as they navigate their identities, and
4) find affirming relevant resources.
